BOOSTie Question of the week - Slow Music for Veil Dance

Today in class, one of our BOOST participants (thank you Jennie!) asked where she could find slow (preferably short) songs suitable for veil dance.

Except for the usual places (Youtube/iMusic etc..) here are two more ways to find music inspiration:

If you are on Instagram, try browsing/searching your REELS audio suggestions, and then look up the full tracks in your browser to purchase/download (or check their full albums)
Try searching your browser/google etc.. for 'free meditation music' (I found these today)
Try a search for 'royalty free music - calming' (that's how I found this track, I used it for last week's free BOOST veil dance-along)

BOOST Practice Tip of the Week - 3 Steps to Veil Tucks

VEIL TUCKS - Do you struggle with smoothly tucking/un-tucking your veil while dancing? Try these three steps to make it easier.

The main idea is to make it look (and feel!) like DANCE.

1. Rotation, rotation, rotation: Expand your range of motion before you practice by warming up your torso (hips and obliques) and your shoulders. A few minutes of simple Qi Gong body swings should do the trick!

2. Practice 'dry': Try the tucking/un-tucking movements without actually using a veil first:

Trace your hips, palms down, from the center of your body to behind your back
Extend/open your shoulder, elbow back, and feel the movement in your body.
After a few repetitions try it while looking away from your tracing hand.

3. Add a veil: See what happens when you do the exact same thing. To 'untuck', get your thumb behind your veil (aka between your body and the veil) and press the veil straight out, away from your body.

BONUS tip: In the preparation, try holding the 'free hand' edge of your veil up diagonally (for an elongated line) and rotate your 'tucking hip' away from the audience (this will also help you hide the actual veil tuck.. MAGICK!)
